Dear sir We are having HP-proliant ML350 G2 server with DLT 40/80 backup drive. Operating system is RHL ES 2.1. We are tring to take tar backup of about 30 GB on DLT media using tar -cvf /dev/st0 filenanes. But the total execrise is taking to-much time to complete, about 5 Hrs to complete the job, whille ew have another server having RHL 6.2 and DAT drive with media 12/24, the same exercise is taking half of the time to complete.
Please note that DLT is in compressed mode. Kindly give what could be the problem or how we can speed up the backup.
