Hi,

I am facing this strange situation.

My client has a GNU/Linux box.
If the machine is booted after an interval of 6 or more hours
(between boots) the machine gives a CMOS checksum error.

If we boot the machine within 6 hours, the machine boots up fine!

I checked (using DMM) the batteries and they are fine.

The system was working fine until 2 days ago, when a new
CD ROM drive was attached. First Kudzu showed up and we
configured it without any problems. However, the CMOS error
was seen in subsequent boots.

The system was setup 1 year ago with RHL 7.3.
The system has a Odyssey M'board with uniprocessor support
(FSB 133 MHz), 256MB RAM (DIMM), PIII (733MHz), 20GB HDD,
10/100Mbps 8139RealTek NIC, CREATIVE 48X CD ROM drive.

Has anybody faced this situation before.
Any insight in resolving this annoying problem will be
appreciated.

thanks
Tom.
