I have a problem after installing linux on a T40 laptop. Could you please help me?
I try to install redhat 8.0 in the laptop. When I install it,
everything is fine. I can boot using CD ROM. But when install finished, it can
not boot from harddisk. The screen give following message:
<snip>
oprofile:mapping apic
oprofile: no local p6 apic. falling back to RTC mode
Your computer does not have a local APIC, e.g. mobile P6. Falling back to RTC
mode
oprofile: can't get RTC I/O ports
block: 992 slots per queue, batch=248
Uniform Multi-Platform E-IDE driver revision:6.31
ide: assuming 33MHz system bus speed for PIO modes;override with idebus=xx
PCI_IDE: unknow IDE controller on PCI bus device f9, VID=8086,DID=24ca
PCI: device 00:1f.1 not available because of resource collisions
PCI_IDE:(ide_setup_pci_device:)could not enable device
</snip>
Then the system hangs. Only way out is POWER OFF. Couldn't get much info on the net too. Could anybody suggest me to get rid of this problem?
Oh!! BTB, I already tried noapic option. Doesn't work.
