You can mount these device using these steps.

1. Open any terminal.Be super user.
2. Do dmesg | less (It will show you which device is
your cdrom.i.e. hda,hdb,hdc or hdd , say your cdrom is
hdc)
3. Use the command #mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom
4. Go to the mounted directory # cd /mnt/cdrom
5. Now check the content using ls -l 
6. To umount the cdrom , first come out of the
directory
7. Now use command # umount /mnt/cdrom
