Sudev, I experienced the same thing with IceWM and finally dumped it and went to Gnome. Oddly, I have had no problems with Gnome, even thought it is a much beefier window manager than IceWM. You would sort of suspect that the memory requirements would be high, but I'm not seeing that here. We have about the same number of thin-clients that you have and half the RAM on our server. I also elected to use the K12LTSP distribution. Even though we are not a school, We've found this distro to be very easy to install and manage.
I'm sure there are many people out there that are using IceWM with no-problem that could give you some insight if you are bent on keeping it alive. Thanks, Steven G.
