I do not know if this would help, but I think that this kind of problem is in majority of cases due to defective media. As far as I know, the RedHat installer do not give you a option to skip a file or package, if that is found defective, after the initial selection of packages. The whole installation would be aborted.Hi , I have tried to install RH Linux 7.x to 9 on my box with following configuration Athlon XP 1.7 Processor & 80GB Segate 7200 rpm HDD.... The installation never gets through, after creating partitions, choosing Packages, during copying stage it hangs off after copying few packages. Anyone come across this problem. I tried various options such as LBA mode, LARGE mode, Auto mode for HDD from Bios, auto Partition ... Nothing working out. I have tried other OS, it works fine on the same system with no problem.
To check up you can go to other terminal (may be three or four, not sure) and check on the installation process.
