see i have a digital still camera from Sony which can snap 15 secs
duration mpeg movie.
what i do extract the files from the camera is :

1. connect the USB connector of the camera to the USB port of the computer
(system should be running in linux) and switch the camera on.
2. system should show which device it is attaching to the camera ( example
like /dev/sda or /dev/sdb if you are on ide only machine )
3. mount the first partition of the device ( like /dev/sda1 ) as vfat
partition.
4. browse the mount point and take the files.

you may like to have a try.
