First of all winXP has a better intelligence so it should not pose any
problem
But better still I prefer to first install the MBR by
fdisk /MBR from windoze
Then install the windoze (including NT)
Then boot from the linux rescue CD/Floppy and reinstall lilo/Grub as the
case may be!
