Hello, We are discussing about the implementation of Open source software in an academic environment (precisely on a University scale). The problem is whether to consider PostGreSQL or MySQL for the same. There is a debate that OS databases like the above mentioned have some disadvantages. So I wanted to find out as to whether it is really true. Are there any specific disadvantages ( from the technology implementation point of view , like usability, scalability etc.) from using PostGreSQL or MySQL in a University campus IT Implementation...?? Also can anyone point me to some really useful case studies who have implemented either one of these databases..!!, either in Universities or the Industry.. Thanks in advance..
