Making a BIG assumption that you will be installing Oracle on Redhat/clone, here's a couple of pages to get started http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9i.html http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-8-HOWTO.html There are lots of issues, which you will iron out during the course of the install. Worst thing is installing Oracle needs X to be installed, which IMO is pretty lame.
