Making a BIG assumption that you will be installing Oracle on
Redhat/clone, here's a couple of pages to get started

There are lots of issues, which you will iron out during the course of
the install. Worst thing is installing Oracle needs X to be installed,
which IMO is pretty lame.

I've had decently easy installs on Redhat/SuSE/Mandrake and Debian.
