Recently i managed to lose my /var/lib/rpm (RH7.1). now i am trying to
install an rpm but get errors since the entire database is wiped out.
i tried the following:
rpm --initdb
rpm --rebuilddb (some empty files created)
then i tried the following:
rpm -iv --justdb glibc* filesystem* setup*

With the above i got into a loop of dependencies, some which i dont know
how to satisfy. What is the way out ??? Do i have to reinstall ?

(I know one option is to use only tar.gz files, but in one freak case
(jikes 1.18) the rpm works but the tar.bz2 fails in some cases).

(Note:This is my home PC on a very slow dialup, but i do have the rpms on my disk)

thanks
