My mutt and vim on my office machine (IBM with Intel 810, RH8) have always
looked *sick*. I just found that the vim colors from my assembled home PC

What is the terminal that you set? Are you running it in an xterm?


Try kdeterm / gnome-terminal or maybe rxvt if you've not installed kde / gnome.
