Is it possible for a remote user to get usernames and password of a Linux
server via brute force?

How to prevent a brute force login?

In my server log, I have the following lines:

Dec 18 15:58:41 Elvira sshd[7782]: Illegal user paul from 219.93.236.130
Dec 18 15:58:41 Elvira sshd[7782]: Failed none for illegal user paul from
219.93.236.130 port 47212
Dec 18 15:58:43 Elvira sshd[7782]: Failed password for illegal user paul
from 219.93.236.130 port 47212
Dec 18 15:58:54 Elvira sshd[7784]: Illegal user andrew from 219.93.236.130
Dec 18 15:58:54 Elvira sshd[7784]: Failed none for illegal user andrew from

Dec 18 15:58:56 Elvira sshd[7784]: Failed password for illegal user andrew
from 219.93.236.130 port 47217

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Ganesan
