Dear SRS et al Thanks a lot for the info. I downloaded the .rpm and installed it and configured it. Touchtelindia has given me Globespan Virata with VID 0f70 and PID 0002. It gets connected by the eciadsl driver on and off but there seems to be no modem activity. 'startmodem' successfully gets connected but I am unable to surf or go to internet. How to 'off' the modem once it gets connected ? Do we have to provide the DNS address though touchtel people have not given me anything ? I have given the DNS number as 203.145.161.1 (Coimbatore, India) after getting to know from windows connectivity. Lakshminarayan
