My linux box have openssl-0.9.6b release 29.

How do I upgrade openssl?

I could not browse the ftp site ftp://updates.redhat.com/8.0 as u mentioned.

It is hard to say without the release number. From what I can see,
the last released version of openssl for Redhat 8.0 is 0.9.6b-35.8.

One way is to download from ftp://updates.redhat.com/8.0 (i686 for base
openssl package, i386 for other packages). Easier would be to use RHN.

This won't work without more tweaks. Also you might have to recompile
every piece of software that uses SSL if you go via this path. Unless
you know what you are doing, you will end up completely shutting yourself
off from the machine.
