I have a PC with two hard disks connected as Primary master and Primary slave to IDE0 Controller. I have the NT partition and NT Boot Loader on the First Hard Disk's MBR.
I have Installed Mandrake 9.0 on the second Hard disk choosing to install the Boot Loader(LILO) on the MBR of the Second Hard disk( boot=/dev/hdb; root=/dev/hdb1).
I now want to add the boot entry for the linux installation to the boot.ini on the primary hard disk and boot from there.
I tried "dd if=/dev/hdb of=/mnt_c/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1" and added this entry to the boot.ini on the primary hard disk.
This does not work as the screen keeps pumping "99 99 99 99 99 99........................." etc If I choose to boot this entry at boot time.
However a linux installation on the first hard disk(/dev/hda7) boots perfectly via the NT Loader. I am forced to use loadlin.exe to boot at present to settle the issue
I dont want to install LILO or GRUB on top of the dumb NT boot loader on the first hard disk though it will solve my problem.
Any help would be gratefully acknowledged.
Thanks and Best Wishes, G.Sriram, Trichy.
