Rajesh, I have done this exercise about six months ago, but so far not successful in getting a 100% pdf to M$-word converter under Open Source. You may have to take alternate routes. If you are interested in converting simple pdf pages to .doc format, there is an utility called "pdftohtml" on freshmeat. This is good for simple texts, without tables etc. The HTML pages can be handled by MS-Word. Things can be reformatted and rearranged within Word itself without retyping. Work would be perhaps a bit less than what Ghosh had suggested about use of the Adobe acroread text extraction. If you merely want to have a 1:1 replica, inclusive of images, tables, double column formatting and the works, there is another called "pdf2html" also on freshmeat. This converts the pdf to ready to use png images, page by page. If you load these sequentially inside Word, you'd have an identical copy ... (Not very editable though). I suppose open source developers are not very convinced about such an utility ... I have come across none in the last six months ! Do let us know if you hit upon any ;-) Bish -- : ####[ GNU/Linux One Stanza Tip (LOST) ]####################### Sub : Making audio and mixed mode CDs LOST #370 To burn a mixed mode CD (e.g. a VCD), try cdrdao.
