I have already gone through this site and infact configured ltsp once. But it if i could remember correctly it uses nfs to mount root file system where I want a minimal version of linux with a root file system in a ramdisk. This ramdisk image should be downloaded from the server and the client should run indepedently afterwards.
Loading an initial ramdisk is a bootloader's job. You need a network enabled bootloader, like PXELinux [http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php], which can download and setup an initrd across a network. Might also want to check out Etherboot [http://www.etherboot.org]
