Does the same thing come with other apps as well ? Do you still
get these multiple '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' strings when you do ls for example ?

The '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' may be your prompt, and that would come. The repeats
may be because of some problem in your a.out. In any case, this
is from the man page of script utility:

BUGS

Script places everything  in the log file,  including linefeeds
