Job Requirements
- Ability to interpret, maintain and create shell
scripts. Working knowledge of PHP / Perl scripting is a plus
- Installation & configuration of Linux servers.
In-depth knowledge about the Redhat Linux OS
- Strong DNS Concepts and working knowledge of
Bind
- In-depth Knowledge of Apache web server and
related modules like PHP, Tomcat, SSL, FrontPage etc
- In-depth Knowledge of any one Linux based mail
server. Qmail is a plus
- Ability to perform Linux Kernel Recompiling,
Tuning and Optimization
- Patching Linux Servers in an Automated Fashion
- Ability to handle Linux routers
- Knowledge of setting up High Availability
Clusters and Load Balancing
- Understanding of Rootkits, IDS, Firewall
concepts
- In-depth Knowledge of IP Tables, Advance
networking concepts like bandwidth queuing, bandwidth accounting
- In-depth Knowledge of MRTG, Snort, Tripwire,
Nagios, Nessus, ntop is a plus
- Ability to work in a team or individually
- Excellent written and verbal communication
skills as well as ability to work with minimum supervision are expected
- All Linux certifications are a plus
- Should be having a minimum of 1+ years of
experience
- Knowledge of both Windows and Linux will be a
plus point
Job Responsibilities

- Deploying & managing high volume dedicated
& virtual hosting web servers, mail servers etc both in Windows &
Linux platforms
- Applying security patches and fixing compromised
servers
- Upgrading Linux kernels & packages
- Troubleshooting complex support issues
- Automating manual processes
- Research & Development tasks to build
products & tools
- Documentation of system administrative task
- Managing a team of System Administrators
- Formulation & implementation of guidelines
for managing servers efficiently

Responsibility Domains. Responsibility Domains correspond to the Job Titles.
Each Job Title signifies a different Responsibility Domain, a different Role,
and a different set of duties. Growth is determined by the number of levels
that you cross. After a given set of levels your Responsibility Domain (and Job
Title) would change.

At Directi the System Administration career path consists
of 9 levels across 4 different Responsibility Domains. Each higher
Responsibility Domain brings in a higher level of responsibilities and
expectations. Each higher Level, brings in higher compensations and benefits.
Levels within a Responsibility Domain represent a higher
experience in the SAME set of duties. Jumping to the next higher level within
a Responsibility Domain simply occurs based on number of months of experience
and performance of the SAME functions.
Jumping to a higher Responsibility Domain however requires
proving your ability to take on newer responsibilities. For instance jumping
from Sr. System Administrator, Technical (Level 3) to Team Lead, System
Administrator (Level 4) would require a change in skills, responsibilities
and duties.
