You can try the "GRAMPS".
GRAMPS (Genealogical Research and Analysis Management Programming System) is an Open Source genealogy program for Linux, FreeBSD and other UNIX-like systems. It allows you to easily build and keep track of your family tree. Below is a list of some of the features currently available in GRAMPS
The Debian package system will resolve all dependencies. GRAMPS can be installed using:
"apt-get install gramps"
All good but still has some limitation, read before selecting for your purpose: http://gramps.sourceforge.net/about.html
"Slow performance with databases over 10,000 people". Even I have noticed it in [mock] 5k records. If you want o deal with really large database, need to find out some way around or alternative.
