These errors (if they are errors) have started after an upgrade of my webhost's mail servers.
Just a warning rather than an error .. your debian (or at least your fetchmail) is certainly linked against openssl, so that it pulls email down - pop3 with tls.
You just got to the start where you issue "user lists"
Then there's pass yourpassword, and the retr commands to download mail
Get to that stage and see what errors you get, if you aren't able to download email
And if you can grab the headers of a sample mail that fetchmail chokes on send it along (login to webmail or ssh into your webhost's server and use pine / mutt to get the headers)
