Even the SMB daemons need not be started. Look for these: a) Kernel has support for smbfs. b) Samba client libraries are installed. c) You are root while mounting. One more thing you could try out is wether you're able to connect to the share via smbclient or not. rrs - -- I am trying to reload the Samba Client libraries. What should I do if I want / allow user to mount the windows folders.
