Dear List, I have installed Debian GNU/Linux, and have managed to get X up and running. However, I am unable to get a resolution higher than 800x600. I have tried changing the XF86Config-4 manually as well as using xf86config, but with little success. Could you please tell me how to get 1024x768 resolution.
Another thing is that I actually installed Knoppix and upgraded to Debian unstable. What I noticed was that the upgrade downloaded many packages which were not part of Knoppix (and which I didn't need either!). I used the command apt-get dist-upgrade. How do I make sure I can perform upgrades only of those packages which are already installed on my system? Thank you.
