Hello,
I have a rockwell chipset based HSF winmodem. Recently I downloaded
the relevent drivers from www.linuxant.com and installed it.The system
was able to successfully detect my modem. Now I am successfully able
to connect to the net using a satyam dialup account(though not the
bsnl account - it gives an error code : 16). But when I try to load a
webpage (say www.google.com), I get the message that www.google.com is
unavailable. I pinged the two dynamic addresses allocated to me. ie
ping 210.214.217.141 and
ping 210.210.114.132
And it showed 0% packet loss. So obviously some data is transmitted.
So why am I not able to load a webpage? Has it something to do with
the limitations of the modem driver? The linuxant HSF driver limits
the speed to 14 kpbs for the free version. I also tried reducing the
connection speed in the kppp dialer to 115200.
I booted in run level 2 (which has no networking, nfs etc) and then
started an X session. Has that anything to do with my problem?
Thank you
Ravi
