Hi all
I have installed RedHat Linux AS 2.1on Intel 815
chipset. The
current Kernel version is 2.4.9-e.3. As part of my
appln installation
, i am to have kernel versions anything above 12.
For which i dwnloaded linux-2.4.25.tar.bz2 from
kernel.org.
I followed the falg steps to build kernel.
1. Extracted the files.
2. make config
3. make dep
4. Compile the kernel
For which i ran the cmd 'make bzImage'.
It created a compressed kernel image named bzImage.
5.Took the backup of vmlinuz in /boot and replaced it
with the new bzImage.
6.After whch i am to reinstall LILO. My system had
/etc/lilo.conf.anaconda
7.I ran this cmd to reinstall LILO
lilo -C /etc/lilo.conf.anaconda
it came out with following error.
device 0x03500 exceeds 1024 cylinder limit
Fatal-sector 104636493 too large for linear mode -
(try lba32)
and, for the sake of trying i rebooted after this.And
cudnot reboot.It
cudnt recognize the filesystem/partitions etc.
let me know what can be the error and how do i go abt
further pls
