hi! sorry for responding so late....
actually, we have a mikrotik router thats + squid proxy, setup and maintained by a consultant. many a times it so happens that i face this prob, of not able to browse, which on normal circumstances is DNS, but as u said, if i m able to ping i should be able to browse too. but this doesnt happen. probably this is something to do with routing. i tried asking this guy, but he doesnt help.
