LANG is en_US.
Dependency checks are OK. Configure outputs all the makefiles correctly.
Where can I find the perfectly usable courier RPM? At the courier-mta
site they tell you how you can make RPM from source code but as far as I
can make out - NO RPM.

Further to my above mail, I poked around at the courier-mta FAQ and figured that the failure to make the package is to do with the fact that CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS do not point to /usr/local/include and /usr/local/lib. THus the courier package cannot find courier-authlib (since courier-authlib files are installed into these directories).

I set CPPFLAGS and LDFLAGS environment variables and ran configure again.

I than ran make to encounter the following error:

make[2]: Entering directory `/home/samprag/downloads/courier-0.48.2.20050220/rfc1035'
Linking testlookup
/usr/local/lib: file not recognized: Is a directory
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[2]: *** [testlookup] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/samprag/downloads/courier-0.48.2.20050220/rfc1035'
make[1]: *** [all] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/samprag/downloads/courier-0.48.2.20050220/rfc1035'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

The earlier compile and link error has given place to this one

Why could this be happening?
Thanks in advance for pointers
