Hi List,

I was wondering if we can set up a user based (authenticated) firewall
system on linux using opensource and free software?

The requirement is as below:

1. A system (has external IP assigned by another firewall using NAT)
2. An user authenticates by connecting to that external IP (either http or ftp).
3. Only after authentication the firewall allows the IP of the user to
connect to any port
4. I want the firewall to reside on the systsem itself.

TIA
- Tusar
