Hi all, I posted this query some time back.
A major stumbling block to conversion to Linux at Office is the lack of AUTOCAD equivalent in Linux. Usually when we prepare technical reports, we keep open word processor, presentation software and AUTOCAD also. Our colleagues send us Autocad Drawings in .dwg format. We flit seamlessly between the three apps to make a report, a presentation and for distribution, we open it in Openoffice and make pdf also. We are forced to do all this in Windows. There are youngsters who are willing to experiment, but the above is the stumbling block. Is there any app which can read .dwg format drawings and work with it? We cannot force others to send us drawings in other formats. But if we are able to do it ourselves with any other app, it will help. Any pointers please?
