Isnt the jetdirect method applicable to laserjet printers connected directly to the network ? My basic problem is that I am having a ancient DeskJet printer which doesnt have driver for Windows XP. It works great from Linux even in color. I am not sure what all I need to do to get my CUPS working with Windows. Do I have to provide a driver to Windows even in my setup ? Ideally I tell Windows to use CUPS via IPP for a Postscript printer and then CUPS manages the rest. Is this feasible or am I looking at an impossible situation ?
