I tried the tip binand recommended that is inserting the line "NETWORKING_IPV6=no" in the /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 file. And it worked. Ipv6 module was the culprit I guess. But I wonder how my settings changed. Because I had not changed them myself. Can it be a clue of intrusion from outside? Or I wonder if running the command : # make modules have any effect on the system ? Like overwriting my modules in /usr/lib directory or something? I had run the above command as root. And before compiling the kernel, I had around 900 MB space on my partition. But after running the 'make', it took up all the space. # df -h showed 0MB on that partition. Running... # make clean released around 700 MB. I would really like to solve this mystery. Thanks a lot guys (thaths, suresh, binand) , it is times like this that one truly appreciate the power of open source. :) Ravi ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the JBoss Inc.
