Hello all, I recently got the Dataone Connection from BSNL, and along ith it Huawei Smartax 882 modem.
I have a AMD 64 mc with Fedora core 2 linux installed. I havent disabled the PPPoE on the Modem. I tested with ethernet connection and it works without much of a problem. (Configured using ifconfig, and set the gateway and DNS servers) I searched the net and found that I need to load the usbnet module. I have made the following changes to the end of the /etc/modprobe.conf file. It didnot have any entries earlier related to usbnet. alias eth1 usbnet I configured the eth1 interface as follows. $ifconfig eth1 192.168.1.100 up $route add default gw 192.168.1.1 In the /etc/resolv.conf, I have entries for the DNS servers. But If i try to ping the gateway 192.168.1.1, it says the network is unreachable. Same thing happens for the DNS server addresses. Has anybody succeeded in configuring the USB connection?
