I think you need only to connect the drive and Linux will see and use
it just fine. IIRC, Linux deals with hardware directly rather than
through the BIOS, hence even if the BIOS is of a lesser capability,
Linux is not bothered.

The only time you need to be a bit careful is when you try to boot off
this disk.
