Hi all, I am using a program to add users in to a Linux box using useradd command. My program add users to system continues.
I try to add 55,000 users to linux box. After around 13,000 users my fedora system crash ( Fedora Core 3). I try the same in my SuSE ystem too. I use "top" tool to watch the process information on SuSE box. After a long time ( after adding 6000 users) top shows that there is 5-6 instance of "nscd" process and it takes around 90% of CPU. System become verry slow. I coould not do this test on Fedora. But hope that the same thing may happened in Fedora too. This may be the reason for crash. I check the /var/log/messages file in Fedora after restarting the system and it shows that "linux udev[2624]: creating device node '/udev/vcs4'" "linux udev[2624]: creating device node '/udev/vcs6'" etc messages continuesly. Any one have any idea about why system crashed and why nscd using 90% of CPU?? -- Shijithlal L V Fischer Systems India 224 NILA Technopark Trivandrum 695581 INDIA Ph: 91 471 2527427 Cell: 91 9349100636 email: [EMAIL PROTECTED],[EMAIL PROTECTED] ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
