Hi Everybody,
I am using Redhat Linux 8.0 with Postfix 2.0.16. I have a scenario where
there are two mail servers (mail1.mydomain.com and mail2.mydomain.com) for
the same domain mydomain.com. The server mail2.mydomain.com is located in my
local LAN and the other one is located at a different place. Both the
servers are connected over the Internet. The local users of the LAN are
having their mailboxes both at mail1.mydomain.com and mail2.mydomain.com.
The MX entry for mydomain.com is pointing to mail1.mydomain.com. Other users
of mydmain.com (they are not in my LAN) are having their mailboxes at
mail1.mydomain.com only.
I want to configure my mail2.mydomain.com in a way so that mails originating
from my LAN and meant for the users who are having account at the local
mail2.mydomain.com are directly delivered to the mailboxes at the
mail2.mydomain.com without going to the mail1.mydomain.com.
All the mails meant for my LAN users and generated from outside my LAN will
be delivered to the corresponding mailboxes in mail1.mydomain.com and I
shall use fetchmail to get those mails from the remote server and deliver it
to the local server.
Thus for mailing, my LAN users will only connect to the local mail server
mail2.mydomain.com and will not access the Internet.
Kindly point me to some material in this regard. I was trying to get some
hint via google but failed. Will the use of maildrop be of any help? I don't
think that running a DNS locally and creating multiple MX entries for
mydomain.com will be of any help.
With regards,
Goutam
