Wine aims for bug for bug compatibility with Windows.. The recently discovered WMF vulnerability affected Wine users too... http://www.gentoo.org/security/en/glsa/glsa-200601-09.xml So most IE specific exploits would work under wine too, so a worm that exploits IE alone will be able to install and propagate itself. But if it depends on some other windows component/library that isn't present it may not be very successful. But since most linux users don't work as root, and most decent wine configs allow "write access" only to specific folders on your system, the damage possible to the system is minimised when you run the windows apps under wine.
