I have a two computer setup - call them Machine A and Machine B.
Machine A has mandriva LE2005 installed with:
1. two network interfaces (eth0 and eth0:0) configured on one
ethernet card
2. shorewall firewall
3. BIND
and other server software.
A and B are linked via an ethernet switch. To the switch is also
connected a broadband router for internet access. Machine A acts
as a gateway to the internet for Machine B.
My problem is that after both machines startup Machine A has
instant internet access but Machine B does not.
I then start up a terminal on A, su to root, cd to etc/rc.d/init.d
and do the following one after the other:
./shorewall restart
./network restart
./named restart
After this both A and B have access to the internet.
Why does this have to be done? I tried to put the above in
rc.local so that they are executed at start up. However, this does
not work.
Grateful for help
Pramathesh
