(Caveat:- I have not this version of router from MTNL / BSNL, but have
used USB cable modems. Did you try plugging it in?)

1. as root, say ``modprobe cdc-ether''

2. Immediately after, say ``demsg'', and read the output. THEre should
be something about a device being created in  in /dev/ . If it is not
/dev/eth0, please get back to this list with the following info:-

(with the modem plugged in)

``lsusb -v ''

``lsmod |grep usb''

``uname -r''

If the usb device is bound to eth0, then you can follow the
instructions in my earlier mail.

Ah. The usual sob story. That is to be expected.

I hate plugging for any particular distro, but since you seem to be a
newbie, why don't you try ubuntu? (I do not use ubuntu because it TOO
EASY to use - err.. because I love debian better). Even a proper
latest version of Fedora Core may help.
