Do you have the pppoe and pppoeconf packages installed? If not, please install them first, then run pppoeconf and supply the required parameters, like login name and password. pppoeconf will also ask you whether you want the network up at boot time or not. If you chose not to start the pppoe connection at boot up, you can get connected using `pon' command. Disconenct using `poff'. Normal users will have to be in the `dip' group, IIRC.
