If swap could speed up the system, 640kb would have been enough for everyone! ;-) If your system is actively using swap. It'll only slow things down. Disk I/O is way slower than RAM. Check the output of "free" you don't need to increase your swap unless the last number on the last line is getting closer to zero. While you can add swap files to increase swap size as someone suggested... it'll only slow things down further as swap files are slower than swap partitions.
