| Smarthost[1] will let your mail server relay mails via ISPs mail server
| which is authorized (probably via SPF records, Reverse DNS etc.).
Thanks again for responding. My confusion is somewhere else. My postfix server
is the authorized server to send mails for the domain rpg.in. The MX records of
this domain point to my server and reverse lookup is also possible for my
server. How do I get hold of another server to accept relays from me?
| Most
| of the mail servers won't receive a mail directly from a DSL IP, due to
| unavailability of a proper PTR record (for reverse DNS lookup) or SPF
| records. So you need to setup smarthosting at sender's end, check out
| "relayhost" option in postconf(5)[2], which will let your mail server
| relay all non-local mails via "relayhost".
The sender is connecting to my server with Outlook and getting the error
generated from my server. So where do I setup the smarthost?

Sorry for being so naïve but I am really not able to proceed though you are
helping me all the time. I am not sure if my way of writing hurts anyone's
feelings, please excuse me for my English. I am banking on your help a lot.
With regards,

Goutam
