Hi Atul,
I am using ttySx for modem and not ttyCux.But ,unfortunately for me the life
with mgetty isn't proving to be as simple as you've mentioned. I tried
activating my ppp0 interface (using netcfg at ttyS0) while mgetty was
running on the /dev/ttyS0 and like expected there was no response i.e the
interface was not activated. I had to undo the entire procedure mentioned in
your article and after that if I try to activate the ppp0 interface - it
works! So I am forced to conclude that mgetty in my case is not freeing up
the device ttyS0 when I want to dial out. And this brings up the annoying
question - WHY? I have gone thru your article more than a dozen times and
everything seems to be in order. Please help- I haven't got a clue now.

My other problem still remains unanswered - about my dial-in not completing
from a win 95 machine to Linux box. Is it something to do with shadow
password or password encryption -just a wild guess as I am using the same
installation of mgetty which got installed with RH 6.0 installation
procedure .But I am getting as far as getting the shell prompt for the
username which I have used for dial-in so this suggests that there is
nothing wrong with mgetty & the authentication process is completing(but I
am not sure). That leaves us with the starting of pppd daemon -which is to
be started automatically once a user is authenticated. Is it possible that
there is something going wrong with that? Please let me know what that
something could be as I have no idea about this.

I hope somebody on the list can figure out some answer to my problems.
Thanks!
