Hi Vibhu, Date: Tue, 18 Jan 2000 12:30:31 +0530 From: "VIBHU RISHI" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [LI] problem with accessing network. |Hi, | I am having problems accessing the net. I tried a few things |and this is |what i get: | * My linux machine is unable to ping my windows machine. | * However, from my winNT m/c I can ping the linux machine. | * But I can't telnet to the Linux machine. | * Netscape dosen't recognize the proxy server settings that I |am trying to |give. | | What is going wrong ? | | vibhu.. | Even i had faced this kind of problem 2 times , and u will be surprised I faced this kidn of problem with 2 NT box, and the problem/solution that i found was that the NETWORK CARD was faulty and replaced it with good network card. The Other problem is that ur hub/switch is giving a problem. So in your case also,Try out these options, 1. If u are using a hub/switch, change the port of this Linux machine to some other hub/switch port. 2. if the above one doesnt solve the probelm, try changing the Netwok card the Linux Box. NOTE: Ok can u tell me is your network 10Mbps or 100Mpbs...?? bcos if the card is 10Mpbs and you connect it to 100 Mbps switch also it can cause a problem, so Configure this specific port on your switch to 10Mbps. (You may think , if you put to AutoSelect, it may work fine , Actually it should, but some times it does not , I have faced this problem World class switches too....!! So no hazards in trying it out...!! Hope this solves your problem, or else pls. mail be back. Rgds ----------------------------- Rajesh Divakaran Systems Administrator Wisor Telecom India Pvt. Ltd.
