Hmm.. do you mean that the screen and font size is fine, but there are
black bands on the edges of your picture? This kind of offset is normal.
I presume you are going to use Linux from now on and can permanently
reconfigure your monitor. Use the hardware control buttons and increase
the width/height of the displayed screen area.

Please run 'XF86Setup' as root and partially, whatever you can
configure, configure. Do a reality check with your monitor's manual and
go for a custom monitor in XF86Setup application. Believe me that this
is the easiest part to handle. Please choose the most conservative
settings. The frequencies etc should fall WITHIN the ranges written in
the manual.
