I've used Netscape Communicator on Linux to get mail from an Exchange
server in the past. The key is the IMAP protocol.

Hi,
Arun thanxs for the tip. I am not sure if IMAP protocol is implemented by
our MS Exchange server or not but without asking my sys administrator for
anything I just took a chance and set my Netscape settings to receive mail
from the exchange server and lo.....I started getting the mail ( then I
proceeded to kick myself for overlooking something so obvious)!
Now I come to the bitter part - I can see the mail - fine but the volume of
mail that keeps coming in our office is so much that I cannot afford to do
keep it on my hard disk ( one mailbox is about 500-800 Mb for back up done
every quarter and we have 13 such mailboxes!!!!).So it is just a matter of a
week or two at the most before I am out of hard disk space, deleting such
large volumes of incoming mail is also not a practical option for me. Please
,somebody let me know if there is a mail client which can read mail from a
server (without downloading the message to my hard disk).
Thanks
