Hi Everybody,

Today was the first day of the 4 day workshop on Linux Configuration and
Administration.

The start was bad, delay of about 45 minutes due to Atul struggling to connect his
Notebook to the Projector due to some technical problems. We started the proceedings at
11.00 a.m.

Dr. Gurunandan Bhat welcomed all and gave a briefing on what is the main aim of this
workshop.

Gopi Garge started with a General Topic on Infrastructure support of setting of Linux
Server and precautions to be taken before hand. What things you have to decide in
advance ( such as services needed to be run on the Linux Server etc. ). In between
there
was a breif tea break.

Then Avinash Shenoy gave a talk on Selecting Hardware before going on for Linux Server.
He gave his own recommendations on the best hardware for Linux Server.

Then the actual action of Installing the Red Hat 6.1 Linux server started. Installation
was demonstrated by Kishore Bhargava.
