You have not specified which viewer you are using to view the applet. If
you appletviewver, you will not have any problems. Assuming you are using
Netscape (and this problem applies to both Linux and Windows), you need to
add the fonts that you want to use to the
/usr/lib/netscape/java/classes/font.properties file. This is in the X font
format, but if you go through the file, you will quickly get the hang of
it.
