Hi all,
please find below the extract of my /etc/fstab and as you can see I have
windows on my /dev/hda1 and I have a partition for storage of data on /dev/hda5.
My problem is that I am not able to write to these partitions as non-root
users. As a root I tried doing "chmod a+w" and "chown -cR pankaj some folder/"
but could not manage to change the permission or ownership. As a root I should
have complete control over such changes but it is not happening. Please send me
some tips about how to correct this. Please send it ASAP cos I am not able to
access data on my office machine as non root users.I also tried using default
permissions(setting it to 777) in "Linuxconf" but no avail.
<start>
/dev/hda6               /                       ext2    defaults                 1 1
/dev/hda5       /mnt/general         vfat        exec,dev,suid,rw        0 0
/dev/hda1       /mnt/windows         vfat        exec,dev,suid,rw        0 0
/dev/hda7               swap                swap    defaults             0 0
none                    /proc                   proc    defaults        0 0
none                    /dev/pts               devpts  gid=5,mode=620  0 0
<end>
Thanks.
Pankaj Mathur
