hi everyone. i am kannan, from mumbai, a LINUX NEWBIE.
i recently installed RH 6.1 from the PCQuest CD-ROM ... well-known to all
Indian linux folks.
the following is my system config :-
Intel Pentium-III 500 MHz
Intel SE440BX Motherboard
128 MB RAM
8.6 GB HDD
SiS 6326 AGP card with 8MB RAM
Compex RL100ATX Network Card
Yamaha XGL Soundcard
Creative 48x CD-ROM drive
Samsung Keyboard with Logitech WheelMouse
This Linux box also has Windows 98 SE, under a dual-boot configuration.
I have 2 NT domains, and i wanted to configure this linux box as a third
domain (server, i.e.).
The FIRST PROBLEM was the soundcard ... installed OSS and solved it !!
The SECOND PROBLEM (giving me sleepless nights) is the network card. Though i
am able to ping the local machine (127.0.0.1), i can't get to configure the
card. The accompanying driver diskette had linux drivers, which i compiled
into the RH 6.1 kernel, using the instructions on the driver diskette. I also
mapped eth0 to this device, called RL100a.
But the device fails to get initialized. Can anyone help me with this? In
other words, how do iconfigure this card?
The THIRD PROBLEM is how to setup this linux as the server, where NT
workstations can login into this domain.
